Big change for Sunday’s rally
There’ll be changes at Sunday’s opener of the Tru-Juice/Drivers RallySprint Series at the Tru-Juice Orchards, Bog Walk in St Catherine. The event is scheduled for an 11:00 am start.
“We will have a new and exciting track configuration,” Warren Lamey, event organiser, told Auto.
As the first rally sport speed event on the schedule, Lamey has admitted that it has pulled a lot of interest from the top names, such as Kyle Gregg, Joel Jackson, and reigning Drivers Rallysport Club overall champion Maurice Whittingham.
“So far we’re looking at about 12 to 15 interested parties,” he said.
The gravel rally will use the familiar Bog Walk location. However, Lamey was willing to reveal the big change to excite rally fans. Instead of the old course that leads up the hill, around the main spectator area, the cars will now run across the venue’s one-lane bridge. This means the cars will run sequentially rather than the normal two at a time.
“The complete lap is 1.3 kilometres and, of course, party central will be under the big tree as fans of the area all know,” Lamey explained.
The new layout should lead to some fast competitive racing and plenty mileage for each driver as they use the sprint to prep for rallies later in the year.
