Volleyballers in El Salvador for Olympic Qualifiers
Jamaica women’s beach volleyball team of Sashalee Wallen, Kai Wright and Alicia Malcolm departed the island on Monday to compete in the third round of Beach Volleyball Olympic Qualifiers in El Salvador.
Twelve countries from the Caribbean Zone (CAZOVA), the Eastern Caribbean (ECVA) and Central America (AFECAVOL) will be competing in this round, with the top six moving on to the fourth and final round to be held in Acapulco, Mexico, next month.
The Jamaican team will be joined by teammate Danielle Perry in Miami on their journey. The team will be accompanied by Coach Garth Bonner.
The pair of Perry and Wright participated in the NORCECA Beach Volleyball tournament last month in Punta Cana, Santo Domingo, where they were placed fifth behind Cuba in first place, USA in second and third place and Canada in fourth.
