Flow responds to Observer’s story on Liberty Global’s acquisition of CWC
KINGSTON, Jamaica – In a response to the lead story in today’s Business Observer – “No regulatory approval yet for Liberty Global’s acquisition of CWC — Wheatley”, Flow issued the following statement:
We have and will always comply with all our regulatory requirements and the various prescriptions of our license.
Accordingly, we applied to the Minister for the necessary consent several months ago and have been working closely with the Ministry since that time.
The Minister, as he should, is judiciously considering our application and we encourage him to treat the matter with the gravity that it deserves.
The Broadcasting Commission has already given the required approval.
We wish to reiterate that unlike the previous acquisition of Columbus by Cable & Wireless Communications, the Minister’s approval was not a condition precedent to the conclusion of the current transaction between the shareholders of CWC and those of Liberty Global.
Therefore, whatever conditions are ultimately imposed by the Minister, will be a continuing obligation of our new parent company Liberty Global and we will as we’ve always done, strictly comply.
