I Zebulun eyes chart glory

Anyone who has been on the Portmore dance scene over the past five years should be familiar with singer I Zebulun, one of the ‘Sunshine City’s’ best-kept secrets.

Recently, the roots artiste has made an attempt to introduce his “pure, spiritual, and divine” sound to a wider audience.

Those traits can be heard in Be My Strength and Victimize, produced by DJ Karim for Stainless Records and Real Links Productions, respectively.

The songs, both released this year, represent a busy period for 37-year-old I Zebulun (given name Kevin Ellis), who has been recording since 2006.

Strongly influenced by roots firebrand Capleton, his first song, Life Is, followed his conscious line. It was released on Grassroots Riddim Vol 1 by Rootical Records.

While he has recorded a number of songs, many of them have not been released.

I Zebulun credits his spirituality for keeping him in the game. He is confident Be My Strength and Victimize can give him chart success.
