Evan Thompson appointed head of Met Service Division
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation has announced the appointment of Evan Thompson as the new Director for the Meteorological (Met) Service Division.
Thompson has over 27 years of experience in the field.
He has acted as the director of the Meteorological Service Division and has held several positions at the Met Service, including head of the Weather Branch which he held since 1994; designated severe weather (tropical cyclone) forecaster from 1995; and television presenter from 1999.
Thompson is known as the face of Television Jamaica’s weather presentation and has co-produced and presented Prime Time Weather for the past 17 years, with regular appearances as senior broadcast meteorologist. He also served as the Head of the National Meteorological Centre from 1993 to 1994.
