Watch Silento at YMZ
Silento, the teenaged American rapper who had a sensational hit last year with Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae), is headliner for the July 9 YMZ (Youth Music Zone) show at the National Stadium.
The song reached number three on the Billboard Pop Chart and sparked the Whip and Nae Nae dance craze.
YMZ is billed as the ‘ultimate family entertainment event’ by promoters Mysterious Music Minds. It also features pop group R5, and deejays Bling Dawg and Don Andre.
R5 are a band/group in the mould of Hanson, a sibling band that had a number of hit songs in the 1990s. Their line-up includes four brothers.
They are best known for the songs Smile, Let’s Not Be Alone Tonight and All Night.
Don Andre is enjoying a good run with the hit song Tom Cruise.
Dave Lindsay, a director of Mysterious Music Minds, noted that although is team are tapping into a predominantly youth market, their concept is one of clean, appropriate, entertainment that the entire family can enjoy.
“We observed that the current landscape was lacking in family entertainment shows. You know, the type where parents can tag along with their kids and actually have fun themselves, so we decided to fix that,” he said.
