Ganja worth J$10 million seized, 3 foreigners in custody
ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica – The police say they have seized a large quantity of ganja and several thousand dollars during an operation in St Elizabeth on Tuesday.
Reports are that about 5:30 am, detectives assigned to the Narcotics division were on an operation in Gazeland district in the parish when 2,000 pounds of ganja, with an estimated street value of just over J$10,000,000, were seized.
Three foreign nationals, including two women, were taken into custody.
Added to that, the police say another premises was searched and two 9 mm rounds of ammunition, US$2,000 and J$22,000 were allegedly seized. Three persons were taken into custody.
The police say the identities of those in custody are being withheld at this time, however, they are expected to be charged under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
