TFA Major League rush
FALMOUTH, Trelawny — Mid-season finalists Rio Bueno FC and Bunkers Hills So Fresh SC will have to come from behind in Sunday’s return-leg semi-finals of the Trelawny Football Association’s Monymusk Plantation Rum Major League at Elleston Wakeland Centre if they are to advance to the July 3rd final.
In last Sunday’s first leg, both teams were beaten; mid-season champion Rio Bueno FC going down 1-0 to Spicy Hill SC, while Bunkers Hill So Fresh SC lost 2-1 to Holland United.
This Sunday, Spicy Hill SC and Rio Bueno will meet in the first game set to start at 1:00 pm, followed by Holland United and Bunkers Hill So Fresh SC.
The winners on aggregate will advance to the final, with the winner qualifying for next season’s Western Confederation Super League competition. Faulkland FC of St James and Three Miles River from Westmoreland have already secured their spots.
In Sunday’s first-leg games, Holland United, the team with the most momentum since it has been unbeaten in seven games, took the lead through Kemar Newman, who scored in the 40th minute as they led 1-0 at half-time. But Ricardo Marsh equalised for Bunkers Hill So Fresh in the 53rd minute.
With time running out, Richardo Williams grabbed the winner in the 81st minute.
In the other game, an early goal by Damin Williams, coming in the 10th minute, was enough for Spicy Hill SC to steal a march on Rio Bueno FC.
