Eros attracts the best
In recognition of the greatness of the outstanding thoroughbred Eros, 1994 Horse of the Year who emerged champion sprinter on numerous occasions in a career spanning 29 wins, some of the best horses in training have been provisionally entered for the Eros Trophy.
The Eros Trophy (seven furlongs – 1,400 metres) is set for its annual renewal on Saturday July 2, one week after the Cal’s Jamaica Derby.
The Complete Racing Guide understands that champion trainer Wayne DaCosta has entered Seeking My Dream, reigning Horse of the Year and last year’s winner of the Jamaica Derby and the inaugural running of the Diamond Mile.
Along with Seeking My Dream, DaCosta has also entered the much improved Caribbean sprint champion Poker Star, the very versatile and tough campaigner Perfect Neighbour, and the consistent and enduring Hover Craft.
“Yes, I can confirm that I will be provisionally entering four of my horses in the Eros Trophy: Seeking My Dream, Poker Star, Perfect Neighbour and Hover Craft.
“I am of the view that all the horses I will enter have good chances as the distance is going to suit all of them, and I am looking for good runs from all four,” said the champion trainer.
Provisional entries and handicaps of all horses entered are expected to be made public by tomorrow or early next week.
