Laden does Delus tribute
DEEJAY Laden has recorded a song in tribute to late singjay, Delus. The single, titled See You Again (Delus), is produced by Konsequence Muzik and was released last Friday.
Laden explained his reason for doing the track.
“I did the song because of our friendship. We were close over the past few weeks. Every Sunday, we went to play football. He also lived across from Big Ship studios, which is my musical home and base. I feel really messed up about his death and I am still in shock,” he told the Jamaica Observer.
Delus (given name Delmark Spence) is the brother of deejay Konshens. According to police reports, they were alerted by residents of Havendale after they heard an explosion from the artiste’s apartment minutes after 7:00 pm on Wednesday. His lifeless body was discovered in his bathroom with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head. He celebrated his 35th birthday last weekend.
Laden, whose birthday was last Wednesday, said he spoke with Delus about a get-together he was having just moments before the incident.
“I was celebrating my birthday and I told Delus I was going to get some liquor. It was when I returned that I got the news about what happened. I saw everybody at the gate in shock. I had to go buss a bawl inna mi room,” said Laden.
He described Delus as “super cool”.
“Anybody would love him. I met him through music. we went on the RJR Cross Country Invasion, and we also did the RETV School Tours. We mostly hung out playing football. But he loved playing video games and dominoes,” Laden recalled.
Laden, whose real name is O’Keefe Aaron, is from St Elizabeth. In 2006, he entered the Digicel Rising Stars competition and finished in the top 10. He later hooked up with the Big Ship studios and scored hits with songs including Time to Shine and Really Like You.
