Waste Management
Most persons rarely think or even talk about waste management, the fact that it says “management” still does not impress its importance on us. However, if for whatever reason this were to stop working or have a breakdown in management then everything grinds to a halt and persons take notice, immediately.
The actions from inception to disposal are key to proper management, each of the steps requires special attention, from collection to transportation, treatment to disposal, even monitoring and regulation of guidelines takes teams of dedicated people. The term “waste” refers to more than just garbage from residents, waste also includes extraction of raw materials from processing and manufacturing plants, household hazardous wastes, sewage sludge and even agricultural chemicals and bi-products. In no uncertain terms, this is a mountain to clear.
Moving and clearing mountains is nothing strange in the waste management industry, many times employees are exposed to toxic fumes, sharp objects and dangerous material. All this in an effort to create a more breathable living area that promotes life and healthy living. Without proper disposal and in some cases incineration these toxins and garbage would create an unstable environment eventually polluting the beautiful land we live in.
There is a lot we can do to assist the process from its initial stages, including taking care to learn household chemicals should be stored in room temperature shaded areas, plastic can be recycled, newspapers can be piled and separated from organic waste and the less we use the more we save. It is our home and although we do not see where the waste goes it must go somewhere, so let us take time to care about our environment.
