New format for Sunday sprint
Sunday will see Jamaica’s rally stars out in action for the Drivers Rallysport Club (DRC)/Tru-Juice Rallysprint starting at 11:00 am in the Tru-Juice Orchards, Bog Walk, St Catherine.
“This is our second speed event on the 2016 calendar with another new and exciting track configuration,” Warren Lamey, event organiser, toldAuto.
To spice things up, the DRC has moved to a new section of the venue.
“We wanted to bring a more rally vibe to the event,” said Lamey.
The new course will use the famous jump of the Bybrook rally stage, normally used for Rally Jamaica at the end of the year, deeper into the orchards. To ensure the more casual of motorsports enthusiasts are able to enjoy themselves, there will be plenty of parking and a trailer set up for viewing.
“The good thing about the move is that there are several side roads that allow plenty of accessibility. The trailer will be set up at a high point so that they’ll be able to see 80 per cent of the circuit,” Lamey explained.
Winner of round one in May, Kyle Gregg is bullish in his efforts for this coming Sunday.
“I’m looking forward to it. The car is ready and so am I. We won the last two events held in Bog Walk, and we don’t plan to lose this weekend,” he said.
