Wray and Nephew cool Fire Brigade for domino quarter-final spot
Wray & Nephew Limited booked their spot in the quarter-finals of the 2016 National Association of Domino Bodies (NADB) Kingston & St Andrew Region/Wray & Nephew White Overproof Rum Business House League with a 125-109 victory over Jamaica Fire Brigade last Friday.
Both teams needed to win to advance to the next round. As it turned out, it was the spirited Wray & Nephew Limited that wanted it more as they dominated their opponents and claimed one of the two remaining spots from Zone A in the top division.
Gleaner Company took the last spot after they defeated the already qualified National Commercial Bank (NCB) 131-120, while two-time defending champions Kingston Wharves, who are unbeaten, edged Carib Cement 125-124.
Over in Zone B, Campari made it eight from eight when they defeated Seprod 110-98 for the second time this season. National Baking Company outscored JUTC 121-117, while Petrojam defeated the winless National Housing Trust (NHT) 112-97. NHT will be demoted to the lower division next season.
In the lower division, Ministry of Finance (MOF) kept their unbeaten record in place in Zone A after defeating Kris An Charles Investments 128-109. Urban Development Corporation (UDC) whipped Digicel 126-100, while Stewart’s Auto Sales won their match of the season when they destroyed Seaboard Jamaica 132-106.
In Zone B, Jamaica Observer ill-treated Cari-Med 138-107 to confirm their place in the quarter-finals, Pepsi-Cola Jamaica also book their spot in the next round after defeating Transport Authority 150-137 and Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) kept their hopes alive after they got the better of Flow 139-133.
BOJ now need a positive result from the postponed encounter between Observer to make it through to the next round ahead of Transport Authority.
Round Two in the Knockout championship takes place today at NHT where Petrojam take on Wray & Nephew Limited, JUTC are up against Jamaica Fire Brigade, Pepsi-Cola face Kris An Charles Investments, Seprod tackle NCB, Jamaica Observer face Kingston Wharves and Digicel play Gleaner Company.
All matches are scheduled for 6:30 pm.
