I am pleased to extend heartfelt congratulations to the organizers of the Dream Weekend music festival as they proudly celebrate their 8th anniversary. This is an important milestone and is proof of your commitment to providing local and international patrons with an engaging and memorable experience year after year.

Jamaica’s captivating culture and pulsating music are among the most irresistible features of our tourism product and continue to attract millions of visitors to our shores each year. I am therefore very pleased that Dream Weekend continues to enjoy significant success in combining these key elements to provide a unique and appealing entertainment package.

As a Ministry we are well aware of the significant potential of entertainment tourism. It is one of the main niche areas which we are developing as we seek to diversify our tourism product to attract more visitors from new and emerging markets. With this in mind we are currently expanding our entertainment tourism offering to fully capitalize on our position as a cultural superpower.

We welcome events like the Dream Weekend music festival, which enhance the visitor experience and generate well needed tourism earnings for our economy.

I would like to wish the organizers of Dream Weekend, supporting partners and sponsors all the best as they stage this year’s festival and I sincerely wish that it will be a resounding success.
