Kingston Wharves are domino KO champions
Kingston Wharves were crowned the 2016 National Association of Domino Bodies (NADB) Kingston & St Andrew Region/Wray & Nephew White Overproof Rum Knockout (KO) champions after defeating Petrojam 68-62 in the grand finale at the National Housing Trust’s (NHT) car park last Friday.
Earlier Kingston Wharves edged National Commerical Bank 58-57, while Petrojam got the better of Digicel 62-52 in their respective semi-final encounters to reach the final on a well-supported night.
In the one-hour game, Kingston Wharves, who last won this tournament in 2014, led from start to finish and won the match comfortably.
NADB First Vice-President Humbert Davis said that the KO championship was a success and he thanked sponsor Wray & Nephew Limited for their support.
“This championship was tremendous, it was full of excitement and great moments from day one. Some favoured teams were upset by lower teams, which showed teams dedication towards the sport. Everything turned out as we expected and our aim was met as well. I want to thank all teams that participated and a big thank you to our sponsor Wray & Nephew Limited, who continue to lend their support,” Davis told the Jamaica Observer.
The postponed league match between Jamaica Observer and Bank of Jamaica will be played today at the Observer’s head office on Beechwood Avenue and, as a result, the quarter-finals in the league are rescheduled to next week Friday.
