Barbican are KSAFA Under-17 champions
Barbican FC are the Bill Express-sponsored Kingston and St Andrew Football Association Under-17 champions for 2016.
Winning the coveted title for the first time, Barbican defeated Duhaney Park FC by a single goal scored in minute 20 by striker Ryan Brown.
It was the first goal scored by Barbican in normal time that extended over 260 minutes, but coach Marc Scotland felt “very good with the result, knowing that we came into the game as the underdogs and we left everything on the field”.
Responding to the fact that his team got through to the semi-final and final without scoring a goal, Scotland said: “Well, all through the season only two goals were scored on this team, so we knew if we had got an early goal we could have defended it. Congrats must go to Duhaney Park. I thought that they put in a good performance, especially in the second half.”
Duhaney Park FC’s coach Omar Williams rued his team’s missed chances: “Congratulations must go to Barbican because they put away their chance. On the other hand, we created numerous chances which we failed to put away and, in the long run, it cost us at the end of the day.”
