The young ‘Princess’ storms home
After finishing third by five lengths on debut to Lady Faye, Storm Princess returned last Saturday and romped home quite easily in the ISP Same Day Trophy, a maiden special weight for native-bred two-year-olds over 600 metres.
Owned by Golden Stables, trained by Colin Blair and ridden by Robert Halleeden, Storm Princess (Storm Craft – Khadiliah) won by one-and-a-quarter lengths over El Gato (Devon Thomas) and Tough Cookie (Bebeto Harvey) in a time of 0:36:1 seconds.
Blair said that he was pleased with the filly’s performance and that he expects better things from her in the future.
“On debut she wasn’t really ready, as I just raced her to give her the experience.
“She is not really a sprinter but prefers it longer, but I was also confident that she would be unbeatable this time.
“It was good performance as Storm Princess was running very green and still managed to come home easily.
“There won’t be any race for her soon, so I am going to put her down and work on her. She is very intelligent and I expect more from her in the future,” Blair informed.
Halledeen was also happy with Storm Princess’s effort.
“She ran great; a good performance. We didn’t get a good break but she recovered quickly in this short race and came home good.
“She is a nice filly and I think she will develop into a good racehorse. Definitely one for the future,” Halledeen said.
