Mr Ambassador to make call in Master Blaster Trophy
Mr Ambassador is expected to justify his favouritism and go home with the lion’s share of the $560,000

Mr Ambassador to make call in Master Blaster Trophy

It is a day of speed at Caymanas Park today with the Master Blaster Trophy going 1,000 metres straight taking centre stage.

Yet it will be the penultimate call where Brawn will run 1,500 metres in Open Allowance company which will provoke much discussion while addressing his versatility.

Not the most auspicious crop of native-bred four-year-olds and upward (NW3) lifetime will go postward in the Master Blaster Trophy highlighter, but they all look quite suitable and up to the task at hand.

Prolific Princess and Mr Ambassador are likely favourites in the field of seven, though recent winnerWell Blessed, well drawn on the outside, could continue on her winning ways after returning from a 32-day respite. The competition doesn’t end there as Touch De Road, the stablemate of Well Blessed, though drawn at the opposite end cannot be for a moment overlooked, being also well suited and fit to fight.

Ras Emanuel with his regular jockey Robert Halledeen breezed an encouraging 36.0 seconds for 600 metres going into his final preparation workout on July 13 and should be closing steadily after passing the dummy rails.

Another who looks ripe for another capital effort is Dinner By Seven. The Liquidity four-year-old bay filly last won over the distance on April 23 with the likes of Well Blessed behind.

For her last race, she was declared ill after entering the track. Before that, however, Dinner By Seven finished 9 1/4 lengths second to Mom’s Student going 1,800 metres.

Dinner By Seven returns for her 29th career effort following a 39-day recovery period in decent racing shape, and with jockey Jevvanne Erwin returning to the saddle, she could get there in time for trainer Steven Todd.

Prolific Princess was very convincing in her last race, winning by all of seven-and-a-half lengths going 1,200 metres and is up in grade for this, but she is in such good shape that she is expected to jostle for the top spot with jockey Aaron Chatrie in charge for trainer Gresford Smith.

Mr Ambassador, who failed by two-and-three-quarter lengths to leave the grade behind on last, is given another chance to do so; but with no Storming present, he is expected to justify his favouritism and go home with the lion’s share of the $560,000. Jockey Omar Walker, who won convincingly aboard Prolific Princess and lost on Mr Ambassador in their last races has returned aboard Mr Ambassador for trainer Wayne DaCosta.

Brawn, better known for his exploits over long distance races, turned in an equally strong winning performance over the minimum trip of 1,000 metres round on last. He once again takes on quite a good field that includes fellow imported Long Running Train going 1,500 metres for a purse of $845,000.

Installed as the eighth race on the card, six will run in the Open Allowance event scheduled to go to post at approximately 4:50 pm.

Even more at home at the longer trip, the American-bred four-year-old dark bay colt will once again face the magic of Houdini Magic and Long Running Train, who had him behind in that order, going 1,400 metres on last. And now sitting at the top of the scales on level weights with Houdini’s Magic could compound the issue of winning. Yet, after winning so well on last over a distance short of his best, the weight factor should not be a real issue.

His most potent danger could be Long Running Train with whom he has a long-running battle.Long Running Train, a bay filly, and Brawn, a bay colt, are improving four-year-olds. And, with Long Running Train entering the fray a kilo to the good, at 56.0kg, the battle will continue to rage loud and clear at the tail-end of the race with the Harry Parsard-owned and trained filly, ridden by Robert Halledeen, throwing down the gauntlet to go one better on this occasion.

This follows a second fiddle finish to Houdini’s Magic by two lengths when they last met going 100 metres shorter.Brawn finished one-half length farther back third. Jockey Aaron Chatrie will remain aboard Brawn for trainer Gary Subratie, while champion jockey Shane Ellis will do likewise aboard Houdini’s Magic for trainer Anthony Nunes.
