UPDATE: PNP members feel they ‘put heads out at own peril’, says Blythe
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Former PNP vice-president Dr Karl Blythe says Peoples National Party (PNP) members fear a backlash if they challenge party leader Portia Simpson Miller.
“Right now, those persons [party members] feel that should they put their heads out, they do so at their own peril and they will suffer,” Blythe told OBSERVER ONLINE a short while ago.
Blythe who has been nominated to challenge for PNP president said that should he beat Simpson Miller, he will give the party one year to choose to put in place a new leader who will carry on the party renewal process.
Blythe said he intends to create the atmosphere where people are encouraged to “put their heads out”.
Blythe was coy on his chances of winning but reminded that he beat Simpson Miller for PNP vice-president in 2005, against all odds.
