Usain Bolt short film ‘The Boy Who Learned to Fly’ released
Gatorade has released a short film biopic in tribute to Usain Bolt.
Other than the cliché scenarios of Usain running through the streets of Trelawny as a young child, the short film depicts Bolts journey, struggles and appetite for the sport that has made him a global legend.
During the 7:10 minute video Gatorade biopic of Bolt, we see a young man who leaves his home in a haste to make it to school on time, running past the residents of his home town in Trelawny. He arrives to school just in time but realizes that he forgot his lunch. Starving, the young Bolt is challenged to a race and if he wins will be offered a free meal. Inevitably, he wins then the scene transforms to a teenage Bolt who has become the new sensation of his country, eventually going on to compete in major events.
The animation ends with Bolt running through the clouds with lightning quick feet along with the concluding words “Will Usain Bolt strike yet again?”
The film is a tribute to the legend himself. It also highlights the obvious question on everyone’s lips; will Bolt maintain his legacy in the upcoming Rio Olympics?
What the film does show however, is Bolt’s fear of disappointment but his incredible attitude to override any feeling of fear and live up to a nation’s expectations.
