London Games: Forte through to 100m final
KINGSTON, Jamaica –Julian Forte was the only Jamaican through to the final of the 100m at the London Anniversary games after placing second in heat two in a season best 10.05 seconds (+0.3 mps).
Frenchman Jimmy Vicaut won inn 9.96 seconds with the European champion Churandy Martina of the Netherlands third in 10.08. Richard Kilty of Great Britain and veteran Kim Collins of St Kitts and Nevis finished fourth and fifth with 10.15 and 10.16 seconds respectively and also advanced to the final to be run later today.
Jamaica’s Everton Clarke of GC Foster College was ninth with 10.34 seconds.
In heat two, Michael Frater was fifth with 10.23 seconds and failed to advance.
The race was won by Chijindu Ujah of Great Britain in 10.14 seconds ahead of the American trio of Marvin Bracy (10.17), Michael Rodgers (10.19) and Isiah Young (10.21).
