Cariblanta win masters tournament
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Visiting Cariblanta won the 2016 Montego Bay’s Sports Fest Tournament at Jarrett Park on Saturday after beating Reno Masters 4-2 on penalties after the teams had played out a 0-0 draw in regulation.
The Cariblantas goalkeeper Kirk Williams, who was later named best goalkeeper, saved two penalties in the shoot-out to preserve the win for his team.
In the semi-finals Cariblanta beat Violet Tourers 1-0, thanks to a goal from Kirk Richards, while Reno Masters beat Black Lion by the same scoreline with Craig Williams slotting in the winner.
Former national player and coach Theodore Whitmore was the top scorer, while another former national player, Durrant Brown, was named MVP.
