Two women nabbed with cocaine at NMIA, Sangster airport
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The police have charged two women after they were allegedly found with a quantity of cocaine in separate instances at the islands two airports.
They are 30-year-old Sue Henry, a nail technician, of Morant Road, Kingston 11 and 63-year-old Floris Simmonds, a higgler, of Aboukir district in St Ann.
Henry and Simmonds will answer to charges of possession and dealing in cocaine, attempting to import cocaine and conspiracy to import cocaine. Henry will appear in the St James Parish Court on Wednesday, August 3, while Simmonds will appear in the St Andrew Parish Court this Friday.
Reports are that about 12:30 pm on Saturday Henry arrived at the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) and during security screening, her belongings were searched and backpacks with false compartments containing five pounds of cocaine were found.
Simmonds, who arrived at the Sangster International Airport about 4:30 pm, on Sunday was nabbed when she was stopped and searched and cocaine weighing approximately 2 .5 pounds was found strapped to her body.
The illicit drugs have a combined estimated street value of approximately $ 4.1 million dollars.
