Playing a Part in National Development
Road safety is currently an issue of major concern for us as a nation, particularly as the National Road Safety Unit has recorded more than 220 fatalities at the ending of the seventh month of the year. While speeding, reckless driving, disobeying road signs and mechanical problems with vehicles are ranked high among the causes of many of these fatalities, which costs the country millions of dollars annually, faulty tyres are also major factors.
Since the Jamaica Ultimate Tyre Company Ltd.’s entrance in the local tyre market, it has been playing its part in national development, by offering safe, cost efficient new and retreaded tyres of the highest international standard to its consumers. Though not a wholesale solution to the disturbing trend of road fatalities, your contribution is certainly counted.
The Jamaica Ultimate Tyre Company Ltd. is a small publicly owned operation which falls under the ambit of the Jamaican Urban Transit Company (JUTC) with its retreading plant which employs 36 persons and commendably produces in excess of 10,080 retreaded tyres per year.
As you celebrate your 15th anniversary of supplying and educating commercial and private consumers on the reliable use of locally produced retreaded tyres, I extend heartiest congratulations on your business success, and encourage you to continue applying the business processes which cause you to be listed among the most profitable publicly operated entities in Jamaica.
While you use this occasion to celebrate your success I also urge you to consider possible innovations to create even more employment which would further boost national development.
I extend best wishes to you for all your anniversary activities.
His Excellency The Most Hon. Sir Patrick Allen ON, GCMG, CD, KST.J
