Man charged after pulling gun from waistband, cops say
ST JAMES, Jamaica – A 21-year-old man is now facing charges for illegal possession of a firearm after he was allegedly held with a Sig Sauer pistol and a magazine with three 9mm cartridges during a joint police/military patrol in the Spot Valley community of St James on Tuesday.
The police have identified the accused as Trevor Thorpe of Spot Valley.
Reports from the Barrett Town police are that about 9:00 pm, the team was on patrol when they observed Thorpe acting in a manner that aroused their suspicion.
The police say when he was approached he pulled the firearm from his waistband and dropped it on the ground.
The firearm was reportedly retrieved and he was arrested and charged.
