Green heads IFC regionally
International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, has appointed Judith Green head of its operations in the English-speaking Caribbean.
Green is now responsible for coordinating IFC’s programme of investments and advisory services in countries including Belize, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, St Lucia, Suriname, and Trinidad & Tobago. In addition, she will also manage IFC’s relationships with regional governments, donors and private sector stakeholders. Green is based in Kingston.
In a recent news release, Luc Grillet – IFC’s Senior Manager for Central America and the Caribbean – said, “Judith brings tremendous professional experience and a deep knowledge of the Caribbean market. Through her leadership, we look forward to continuing our strong track record in the region, serving our clients and providing opportunities where they are needed most.”
Green joined IFC in 2011 as a Senior Investment Officer in Jamaica tasked with identifying business opportunities and actively managing portfolio projects on the island. In 2013, she took external service leave to head the Government of Jamaica’s Coordination and Implementation Unit which successfully coordinated and monitored the implementation of the various targets and initiatives under the Government’s International Monetary Fund Extended Fund Facility. Green returned to IFC in April 2016 to take up this appointment.
Prior to joining IFC she held senior management positions in RBC Royal Bank (Jamaica) Ltd, Citigroup Global Markets Inc (New York), and Citibank N.A. (Jamaica).
“I look forward to working with our long-term partners and forging new relationships, both with the private and public sectors, that support this region’s tremendous potential,” Green said in a news release.
Green is a certified Chartered Accountant with extensive experience in finance. She holds a BSc in Accounting from the University of the West Indies and is a fellow of both the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica.
BOWEN FLIES INTO JAMAICA BROILERS
Bruce Bowen has joined Jamaica Broilers as a director as of August 22.
The move is a departure for Bowen, who recently ended a long career in banking with ScotiaBank in Jamaica, Canada and the wider Caribbean.
Bowen was previously ScotiaBank’s senior vice-president (SVP) of the English Caribbean Region, but left in April this year to pursue other interests. In May he also resigned from the board of directors of Scotia Investments Jamaica.
Prior to that Bowen was president and CEO of Scotiabank Group Jamaica from 2008 to 2013, and was president and CEO of Scotiabank de Puerto Rico from 2004 to 2008. He also worked for ScotiaBank in the Cayman Islands and Trinidad and Tobago.
Bowen holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and Managment from Wilfrid Laurier University in Ontario, Canada.
JONES MOVES UP AT SSL
Alanah Jones has been promoted at Stocks and Securities Ltd to become business development manager.
In her role she oversees marketing, assists with investment banking, helps to build the internal culture of the company, provides support for corporate activities, works on special projects while giving more focus to the Sales and Service units of the company.
Jones started working for SSL in August 2015 as a brand associate in the marketing department. After a few months she was promoted to brand supervisor taking on the additional role of project manager in March 2016. She first started working for SSL in 2012 as a summer intern after her first year of university overseas – and continued to work each summer after that, interning in both the marketing and research departments.
On her career progress in SSL, Jones told the Business Observer, “When I first started working full-time one year ago, I made a conscious decision to give it everything I possibly could — it hasn’t been easy and I don’t always have the right answers, but every day I try a little harder than the day before, and sometimes I surprise myself at what I can do.”
Jones holds a BSc degree in Economics and Finance from Bentley University in Boston, USA.
