Rainforest backs Atkinson for remainder of 2016 season
Rainforest Seafoods brand ambassador Alia Atkinson is being backed by the company as she continues to impress the world with her performance in the pool.
Late last month, the sensational swimmer made an impressive comeback following her performance at the Rio Olympics, to produce a world record-equalling performance of 1:02.36 minutes in the 100m breaststroke at the FINA/airweave Swimming World Cup in Paris-Chartres, France. Atkinson later followed up by copping a second-place finish in the 200m individual medley at the same meet.
Brian Jardim, CEO of Rainforest Seafoods, emphasised that Atkinson has the full support of the company as she competes in several meets before the end of the year.
“We recognise her determination and passion for swimming and the magnitude of work that she continues to put in in order to be among the world’s best, so we support her 100 per cent in all her upcoming meets,” said Jardim.
Atkinson, who will be competing until the end of the year, has her next meet from September 28-30 at the FINA/airweave Swimming World Cup 2016 in Beijing, China.
The 27-year-old is focused on improving her times as she aims to end her year on a high, according to her management team. “Alia remains strong, focused, committed and positive about the rest of the season that ends in the Short Course World Championship in Canada. She will be defending her title there,” said Karen Smith-Reid, local manager for Alia Atkinson. She further added, “Her performance so far in the FINA/airweave Swimming World Cup has proved to be a great confidence boost and has helped her to refocus.”
Atkinson’s preparation for these meets will be supported by Rainforest Seafoods, including her expenses for training and coaching, along with her airfare for travel to and from meets.
