Koro Fyah glistens on Rough Diamond
Singjay Koro Fyah is a self-described dynamic, eclectic person who uses music to spread love and harmony. Those elements can be heard on his eight-song EP Rough Diamond, released last Friday by Bebble Rock Music.
Rough Diamond has collaborations with Kabaka Pyramid and newcomer Lila Ike. Kabaka Pyramid, Supa Nova, Loud City Productions, Natural High Records and Istrong D’Aguilar produced tracks for the EP, which include World Needs Love, Fast Life, Eyes Red, Journey, Red Green and Gold, and Got It For You.
“The team and I sat in the studio and thought to ourselves what name we could find that fits the stage where I’m at in my career. We also wanted a name that would fit with the title of the EP. Ultimately, we were also looking for something people could relate to,” Koro Fyah explained.
Members of Kabaka Pyramid’s Bebble Rockers Band worked on most of Rough Diamond.
Born Shane Dixon, Koro Fyah grew up in the Mona area of St Andrew listening to artistes such as Beres Hammond, Damian Marley and Sade.
“I got involved with music the first time I started writing poems around friends who were young recording artistes. They encouraged me to turn them into songs, and then I started to add melody to the poetry and have been building my own sound ever since,” he said. “Supa Nova was the first producer I ever worked with. He produced the song Got to Go which appears on the EP.”
Koro Fyah has considerable live experience under his belt. He has performed in Poland, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, The Netherlands and Spain.
