Venom in his songs
Ever since his years as a student at Edith Dalton James High School, Venom had aspirations to be an entertainer. He always drew an audience.
“Mi always singjay but mi have di comedy thing lock to. But more an’ more, mi si where music can do it fi mi,” he said.
Venom is banking on My Everything, his latest song, to do it for him. It is produced by Tevin Richards for YGF Records out of Ocho Rios.
The 22-year-old kicked off his recording career two years ago. His previous releases include Baby Girl and Hard Them Try.
Venom, whose given name is Alrick Reid, is from Red Hills Road, St Andrew. That area has produced its share of dancehall talent: Flourgon, Red Dragon, Buju Banton, among them.
High-riding deejay Alkaline and The Judge, another Red Hills Road artiste, are his biggest influences.
