She’s A Maneater now looks to Pick 3
Following She’s A Maneater’s six-length romp of the $2.95- million Cash Pot ‘Only One For Me’ Trophy (six furlongs – 1,200m) last Saturday, many- time champion trainer Wayne DaCosta is much more confident of the chances of his bay filly going into the (seven-furlong – 1,400m) Pick 3 Super Challenge Trophy on November 26 – the second leg in the Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL) ‘Triple Crown’ series.
“I think it was a great performance by She’s A Maneater today (Saturday). She basically bided her time from early on in the race and when the rider (Omar Walker) asked her to run, two-and-a-half furlongs out, she just went away from the field, winning and extending her lead with every stride.
“The time of 1:11.3 minutes by any means is a very great performance, especially for a two-year-old.
“Right now the sky is the limit for She’s A Maneater as she is nicely bred. She is bred to sprint and she is also bred to stay, so one can’t really tell how far this filly will go.
“If all goes well with her, we will go to the second leg in the series (the Pick -3) and if she comes through the Pick-3, well She’s A Maneater will go to the third leg.
“So basically she has two more races for the rest of the year, hopefully,” DaCosta informed of his charge.
She’s A Maneater (Natural Selection – Ahwhofah by Royal Minister) broke well and was engaged in a brief battle with Money Magnet (Bebeto Harvey) in the early part of the race.
When Walker touched the throttle approaching the home bend, She’s A Maneater immediately drew away from the field, powering home to score her second consecutive victory from as many starts.
Money Magnet, who was touted to have a say in the race, had to hold on by a neck for second position from the fast-finishing Armageddon, under Ameth Robles, who gave away his chances at the gates and running in the middle of the track for most of the race.
The final time of 1:11.3 minutes compares well with the Stakes record of 1:10.4 done by Princess Popstar, who won this same race back in 2013.
Breeder and owner, Winston Kong, was also happy with the performance of She’s A Maneater.
“It was a very good performance by her; she really ran well and did herself justice. The time of 1:11.3 minutes is also very good. I really can’t complain.
“I am now hoping that she can go on and win the next two races in the series. “She is a very nice filly and I am looking for good things from her in the future,” Kong said.
