#X6MurderTrial: Court takes recess to discuss policeman’s upcoming evidence
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The murder trial of businessman Patrick Powell is currently on a short break to facilitate discussions among the Crown, defence team and Chief Justice Lloyd Hibbert.
The parties are meeting in the judge’s chambers to discuss certain evidence to be given by Sergeant Clive Walker.
Powell is being tried for murder and shooting with intent in relation to the 2011 killing of 17-year-old Khajeel Mais.
Mais was reportedly travelling in a taxi that collided with a BMW X6 motor vehicle. It is alleged that the driver of the BMW got out and fired at the car, hitting the boy.
Powell is also charged with shooting at taxi driver Wayne Wright with intent to cause harm.
Court is to resume at 2:00 pm.
