Starface teaches the Whine Up
Starface’s latest single, Whine Up, is produced by Cornelius Records. Its music video, directed by New York-based Peter Parker, depicts an old school dancehall scene.
“Whine Up is inspired by traditional dancehall when ladies ruled the dance floor and everyone would come closer to catch a piece of the action. Men would also be a part of this as the women would ‘bubble’ on their dance partner,” Starface explained. “By doing this song, my aim is to bring back that good old school vibe when nothing else mattered but good times and the music.”
Whine Up is done on Cornelius Records’ High Class ‘riddim’.
Starface, whose real name is Nadesha Edwards, has been recording professionally since 2011. The West Kingston artiste made her debut with Nuh Fraid a Gal.
After a three-year break, she returned with Ride or Die featuring Beenie Man; Love John, Hold My Man and Money Lotion.
“I am here to show that females can do it too. The show posters are male-dominated most times; you may have one if any female at all included on these events. My goal is to improve the standard they are rating females in our industry,” said Starface.
A former student at Dunrobin High School, Starface was a member of the seven-member dance group, Star Girls.
