WINNERS’ COMMENTS…WINNERS’ COMMENTS…
The Complete Racing Guide shares the comments of some of the winners on the 11-race Heroes’ Day programme at Caymanas Park on Monday.
The Oniel Markland-owned and trained
Two Steps Up, under Dennis Brown, won the second race over 1,000 metres round via the steward’s room following the disqualification ofWarrior Princess. Brown said: “I am thankful for the victory as it is my first for the season. I am happy and I will continue to do the work as I want to win more races.”
My Favourite Dancer, trained by Dennis Pryce and ridden by Javaniel Patterson, won the fifth race over 1,300 metres, Pryce said: “This is my first winner for some time now and the feeling is very wonderful. We broke the jinx and it very important that we did so as we have better days to come. I told the jockey before the race to take her down to gates and warm her up; take her down to the chute and warm her up because the journey of 1,300 metres was too short for her, so he had to get her as ready as possible.”
Trained by Wayne DaCosta and ridden by Omar Walker,
Runaway Gal won the sixth race over 1,000 metres straight. After the race Walker said: “She got two very good runs and now fitter, I did expect her to win this race. I was confident before and during the race that we would get the job done, and I rode her to how the race was run and we came out on top”.
Ridden by Oneil Mullings, the Spencer Chung-trained
King D won the ninth race over 1,100 metres. Mullings said: “The preparation coming into the race was very, very good. He had done some good workouts and in a race of this nature, I knew that his chance was very good. We got a good break, went straight to the lead and that was that – we just cruised home.”
