Hi-Pro increases revenue through partnerships
Based on estimates from its multi-billion-dollar revenue for 2015, Hi-Pro says that partnerships with more than 200 local farm stores and dealers across Jamaica have resulted in over $17 billion in retail sales of its products.
“Last year the average dealer increased revenue by about 20 per cent and we estimate that these stores made retail sales in excess of $17 billion collectively,” said Conley Salmon, vice-president, agricultural marketing for Jamaica Broilers Group, in a recent company press release.
“We recognise the importance these stores play in their communities as the main source of product information and much needed credit. So Hi-pro has been giving support through a series of seminars in stores and on farms to drive business to the dealers in attendance,” Salmon continued.
The company also attributed the growth in sales to the introduction of new products to the market for pest control, improved plant health, and nutrition, as well as animal care and health products. New products from brands introduced include Frontline, BASF, Agricenter and Monsanto.
Information on the products was presented jointly by Business Development Manager Dayne Patterson of Hi-Pro, and Tricia Jackson, stores operations manager, Hi-Pro Ace Supercentre, at an awards ceremony held recently at Jewels Runaway Bay. While celebrating the growth in the Jamaica Broilers division, the company also honoured 100 dealers in attendance.
Wayne Thomas, owner of WT Feed Store in Kitson Town, received the Hi-Pro Spirit Award for best representing the ideals of family, community involvement and passion for business development and growth. Best Overall Performance was awarded to Doreen Lawson of KDL Agricultural Supplies, while Hi-Pro Veterans’ Awards were given to Patricia Johnson of PJ’s Distributors and Robert Goodall of Eastern Total Farm supplies – both serving the farming community for over 20 and 30 years, respectively.
Hi-Pro has also engaged in three major national promotional campaigns that has bolstered sales, including : the ‘Get Cracking’ campaign aimed at getting Jamaicans to eat more eggs; and currently, the Hi-Pro Christmas Countdown, with $14 million in prizes and two Suzuki Vitara SUVs to be given to customers.
“Which other industry has grown by such leaps and bounds in one year?” Salmon asked.
