Henry The Second to reign in Abbie Grannum
The seven-furlong (1,400m) Abbie Grannum Memorial Cup is one of two co-feature races set for decision on tomorrow’s 11-race card at Caymanas Park.
The race this year has attracted eight two-year-olds and is sure to generate much interest among punters, especially with the presence of the highly rated chestnut colt Henry The Second, by Miracle Man – Rebridled Secret.
Henry The Second started his racing career on October 17 when he finished second behind Fearless Samurai by just over a length, running like a first-timer in the straight. Sotomayor was third in that race.
Now with Henry The Second and Sotomayor again meeting over the same distance and with the same weight, it is difficult to see Sotomayor turning around the order of finish, although in that contest Sotomayor was slowly into stride and went wide at the quarter bend.
It should be noted that for tomorrow’s race, Robert Halledeen will replace Dane Dawkins in the saddle on Henry The Second, who now races with the visor on instead of the blinkers.
Vice Royalty is on the improve and may yet need this outing to further build his stocks, while Night Light gave a very encouraging run over five furlongs round, finishing third behind Super Bolt and Duty First.
The others in the race should find the going very tough against their more fancied rivals.
