Lil Wayne doesn’t know what Black Lives Matter is
Not too long ago talk about rapper Lil Wayne revolved around his health or around whether his rap career was truly dead or nah. Now, any talk about Lil Wayne is all about how he put his foot in his mouth in a major way, major like he might just be joining the ranks of Stacey Dash and Raven-Symoné as people of colour the black community has apparently turned their backs on.
Yikes.
Recently Lil Wayne was interviewed for ABC’s Nightline and he made some comments on the Black Lives Matter Movement that were eyebrow-raising to say the least. When quizzed about his views on the movement he asked for clarity about what the movement was, initially, then he moved on to say that he feels no connection to the movement and called anyone that does ‘crazy as s…’.
He did not deny that police killings of black persons was happening nor did he suggest he had no issue with it but he appeared pleased as punch to point out that he is a young black man that is rich and comfortable.
I don’t feel connected to a damn thing that ain’t got nothin’ to do with me.” He added, “I’m a young black rich motherf…er. If that don’t let you know that America understand black f…in’ lives matter these days, I don’t know what it is.”
Following backlash online Wayne has backtracked and claimed that the interviewer had made some agitating claims about his daughter during the course of the interview and after those questions he wasn’t quite thinking through any of his responses.
Let us what you think of Wayne’s interview and excuse below.
