Lee Chin credits previous gov’t, says table for growth set
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Chairman of the Economic Growth Council Michael Lee Chin has acknowledged the efforts of the previous Government in putting Jamaica on a path for growth.
In fact, the esteemed businessman has said that he is confident Jamaica can achieve growth.
“I wouldn’t have stuck my neck out if I didn’t believe it was possible,” Lee Chin said on Monday at the launch of the declaration and signing of the Economic Growth Council now under way at the Courtleigh Auditorium in Kingston.
Lee Chin is part of a panel, which includes Prime Minister Andrew Holness and Economic Growth Council Deputy Chairman Nigel Clarke.
“Today the table is set for growth,” Lee Chin insisted, adding that his job as a fulfilled businessman is to pass the baton on to future generations.
For his part, Holness said Jamaica needs the Economic Growth Council.
He insisted that the plan being presented by the council is for the poor.
Meanwhile, Clarke has insisted that maintaining stability is crucially important. He pointed put that macroeconomic stability alone is not enough for growth.
