Woman accused of killing lover gets bail
A Kingston bartender, who reportedly stabbed and killed her spouse during a domestic dispute, was on Monday offered $400,000 bail when she appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.
Twenty-one-year-old Renae Taylor of Drewsland was arrested and charged with murder following the October 11 stabbing death of Dimitri Anderson.
According to police reports, on the day in question Taylor and Anderson were involved in an argument, which resulted in a fight. During the fight a knife was allegedly used to stab Anderson in his chest.
He was rushed to the Kingston Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Taylor was taken into custody following the incident and charged.
On Monday when Taylor appeared in court, she was offered bail by parish judge Andrea Collins following a successful application by attorney Richardo Kerr.
Kerr told the judge that his client was the sole caregiver for her one-year-old child and hoped to continue her educational journey towards becoming a chef.
He also told the judge that she would not interfere with the witnesses and was willing to relocate to Clarendon.
Taylor was subsequently granted bail on condition that she reside in Clarendon, report daily at Chapleton Police Station and surrender her travel documents.
She is scheduled to return to court on November 14 for a preliminary hearing.
