No backing down by TSD
Rapper TSD is excited about his latest single, Never Back Down, which features Vybz Kartel. It is produced by ILL Grimage Records.
“Everyone who’s heard the track appreciates the quality of the material. It’s a powerful song that symbolises the potency of different strands of black music and serves as a wake-up call to enhance creativity and innovation,” said TSD.
He disclosed how the collaboration with the incarcerated deejay materialised.
“It came about via mutual associates of mine and Kartel, who had a shared vision of merging the genres and putting them on display in such a way that it appeals directly to each fan base.”
Born Tarik Wolfe, 33-year-old TSD has been recording since his teens. A former student at Jamaica College, he resides between Jamaica and Canada.
TSD describes himself as a rapper with an inquisitive point of view. He credits the Internet with getting his music to a broad audience.
“The Internet has been a grand equaliser in getting the music out there and making our voices be heard. Artistes nowadays have the blessing of technology, which we have taken full advantage of. Hip hop is a globalised culture with an affinity for Jamaica so we have been able to take advantage of that both locally via cable TV and on music blogs internationally who support the output of the #FirstCoast movement,” he said.
