#LocalGovt16: Brown Burke expects to be returned as Kingston mayor
ST ANDREW, Jamaica — Incumbent Mayor of Kingston, Angela Brown Burke has indicated that she expects her party to maintain a majority in the Kingston and St Andrew Corporation in the local government election.
Brown Burke also signalled that she expects be re-elected to lead the council, commenting that she does not feel her mayorship is under any threat.
She was speaking with the press a short while ago after being nominated at the Windward Road Primary and Junior High School in East Kingston. Brown Burke is the councillor for the Norman Gardens division.
Fellow People’s National Party councillor Lorraine Dobson was also upbeat about being returned as councillor for the Springfield division.
Brown Burke was victorious over the Jamaica Labour Party’s Headley Wilson by 2398 votes to 197, in the 2012 local government election.
