#LocalGovt16: Security forces control crowd as PNP candidates nominated
ST THOMAS, Jamaica — All four candidates for the People’s National Party (PNP) in the St Thomas Eastern constituency have been nominated.
They are: Ludlow Mathison from the Bath Division who also served as mayor in the council; Jairzenho Bailey, who is running in Dalvey Division; Victor Hutchinson for Port Morant Division; and Rohan Bryan, current councillor for the Morant Bay Division.
Member of Parliament for Eastern St Thomas and one of four vice presidents for the PNP, Dr Fenton Ferguson, accompanied all the candidates into the electoral office and observed their nomination processes.
Church Street in the parish is now inundated with supporters of the party. The security forces, however, are ensuring that the crowd remains the requisite 100 metres away from the centre.
“Today is practice for the real day so we have to ensure they (supporters) understand that as it is stipulated in the law,” one military official told OBSERVER ONLINE Friday.
