Wolmerians confident
Wolmer’s Boys’ School carry the hopes of the Corporate Area in the third staging of the ISSA/FLOW Super Cup final against another first-time finalist Cornwall College today.
They will be hoping to join Jamaica College and St George’s College as Manning Cup teams to lift the title.
The Jamaica Observer caught up with students for their thoughts on Wolmer’s’ chances of taking the title.
D’Andre Pryce, Fifth Form
“I feel very confident that they might win, the chances are very high at this moment, but anything can happen because the ball is round. It should be a very close contest, and should they win I would feel very good because this competition is three years old so for them to win, it would really mean a great deal.”
Delano Smith, Upper Sixth Form
“This is our first time in the final and we have been to the semi-final twice, so I believe this year is our year and we are going to win. The team has been working really hard and that hard work should pay off in the final, and Wolmer’s Boys’ will keep the Manning Cup flag flying high in the competition.”
Jamele Hall, Upper Sixth Form
“I believe our chances are very good; the team has done a wonderful job so far this season and we want to continue on that same path to victory. Cornwall College is a very good team, but I think we are better than them because we are more all-rounded and we should get the better of them in the final.”
Rojhae Phillips, Upper Sixth Form
“As someone who has been to all the games in the Super Cup and leading up to the competition, I am excited that I can go down to Sabina Park and watch my team in the final playing to take home the Cup. I think it is going to be a close match because Cornwall College is a good team when you look on it. And they have a good striker down there, but we have Scott Williams and Jahwani Hinds in defence and think they are capable of locking him down so that we can win.”
Kevon Reynolds, Upper Sixth Form
“I think the team has a great chance of lifting this title because they have been working really hard all season and I have seen them in action and they look really good. It has been a rough journey, but we are now in the final and just one step away from the trophy, so looking forward to great things from them. It will be a very good match because Cornwall College is a good team, so I am looking forward to it.”
