Five years of ‘Awthenticity’
Mandeville, Manchester — In 2012 Monique Ingram, former student at the Northern Caribbean University (NCU), started the group Awthentik Expressions.
The performing and visual arts group has among its activities theatre production and a live show each year called “Behind The Curtains.”
Ingram told the Jamaica Observer Central that it was her way of creating a platform for the development of local artistic performers such as actors, singers and poets.
She said that past and present students of NCU and other talented people in and outside of Manchester are now benefiting in the way she anticipated.
Ingram said that a part of the strategic direction of the group is to have “headline acts” at the live shows in order to inspire and help artistic growth.
That aim was achieved at the fifth anniversary milestone event late last month, she claimed.
Ingram said that dancehall artiste Agent Sasco was “well received” by the performers and members of the audience.
The event was held under the theme ‘Behind The Curtains — Celebrating 5 years of Awthenticity. Be Great’.
