Bouncing with Da Khemyst
Catch Di Riddim
Self-described fusion artiste Da Khemyst is promoting his latest single, the self-produced Bounce.
“It’s a big, bad tune and I expect it to do well,” he told this column.
Born Andrew Ricketts, Da Khemyst is originally from Spanish Town. He attended Wolmers Boys’ School and made his recording debut in the 1990s with the song Hardcore Love, which was produced by Linstead-based K Base Music.
He lists American rapper Method Man, Peter Tosh and Sean Paul for influencing his dancehall/hip hop sound.
“Da Khemyst is an artiste that loves music, and because of that passion I decided to go into that industry,” he shared.
