Honormosity looks to 2017
Honormosity, the winner of the BOOM Unruly Clash and latest recruit of deejay Popcaan’s Unruly Entertainment, has always had his heart set on music. So when he was informed that the local energy drink and the dancehall artiste had teamed up to have the competition, he saw this as the right time to make the next step.
“I didn’t have a choice but to believe it was real. More than the money, I needed the contract with Unruly Entertainment,” Honormosity said. “I saw it as my big break in the music and the next step forward.”
During the competition the 28-year-old St Mary native grew, easing aside opponent after opponent in the 10-weeklong battle. Soon he would amass fans and become a favourite of Unruly boss Popcaan. On the final night, Honormosity reigned supreme as he was declared clash king by a judging panel comprising of dancehall hitmaker Notnice, selector Bishop Escobar, and one of Jamaica’s foremost lyrical assassins and dancehall icons, Ninja Man.
The artiste, who draws inspiration from entertainers like Shabba Ranks, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Vybz Kartel, Sizzla, Tupac and Popcaan, says that there is nothing else he would rather be doing.
“Music has always been in me. It is what I do best. I can’t help myself; I always have to be doing music”.
Since his BOOM Unruly Clash victory, Honormosity said he has been very busy in the studio recording with a number of producers, as well as performing on various shows.
“We have songs like Handle the Gear Stick, Clever Rhyme, Defend the Food, Brighter Tomorrow, Factory, How Yuh Can Wine Suh, and To the Top currently in rotation,” he shared. “Right now, this the hottest dancehall camp out there and since the competition a lot more doors have opened for me. More producers are willing to work with me and I have to give thanks to BOOM and Popcaan for that.”
This new artiste believes 2017 will be a big year for him as he continues to put in the work needed.
“I see myself as a successful entertainer, even hitting the Billboard again and again, and able to help some artiste the same way Popcaan has helped mi to grow.”
