She’s A Maneater up for the ‘Challenge’
Trainer Wayne DaCosta is very optimistic that his filly, She’s A Maneater, will perform with authority in the upcoming second leg of the Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL)-sponsored juvenile Triple Crown Series, the Pick -3 Super Challenge Trophy scheduled to be run on Saturday November 26 over over seven furlongs (1,400 metres).
“She (She’s A Maneater) came out of the SVL first leg, the Cash Pot Only One For Me Trophy race quite good.
“Since then she has been working very well going into her next assignment; she will have her final prep on Saturday (tomorrow) morning, and following that we will just have to wrap her up in cotton until it is time to race.
“Omar Walker will be riding her again. She will face a little stiffer test than she did in the first leg with Mr Universe seemingly rounding into useful form, but, even so, She’s A Maneater has already beaten Mr Universe, but he is one who likes it when he is leading.
“ She’s A Maneater, though, is a versatile type who can do almost anything by going to the front and staying there or she can come from behind.
When asked about the competition that She’s A Maneater will face, DaCosta replied: “Basically, it is going to be the same horses but I am trying to get Fearless Samurai ready for the race. Unfortunately, though, he came up with an infection last week and had to be sidelined for five, six days. Hopefully, I will be able to give him a gallop or two on either Saturday or Sunday morning and see where we go from there,” DaCosta proposed.
Commenting on the class of his filly, the champion trainer did not hesitate to share his thoughts.
“This filly was born gifted as from day one she was good-looking and she knew that she was special.
“Even from the first time that she galloped, we saw that she was something special as she covered the ground so easily.
“In her first workout she gave me a bullet work and after that we had to try our best to slow her down, as each morning she wanted to go as fast as she can. She is an intelligent filly who, at present, you can rate as needed.
“If you want her to go fast, or slow in a race or at exercise she will go fast and if you want to sit easy she will respond.
“Unlike some other horses who like the tear away running, she is not like that; she will follow your instructions and perform accordingly.
“This is a good horse to have and train, so you can sit back, relax and enjoy your racing. Some horses just go too fast too early and burn themselves out,” DaCosta said.
