Pick from nine

Pick-3 Super Challenge Trophy attracts the best juveniles

NINE of the best twoyear- olds in training, representing five stables, have been provisionally entered for the Pick-3 Super Challenge Trophy, the second race in the juvenile ‘Triple Crown’ series sponsored by Supreme Ventures Limited.

The Pick-3 Super Challenge Trophy will be competed for over seven furlongs (1,400m) this Saturday, November 26. Champion trainer Wayne DaCosta leads the way with three provisional entries: Armageddon, Mr Universe, and the highly impressive She’s A Maneater.

Richard Azan is represented by recent winner Market Force and the improving Money Magnet, while conditioner Anthony Nunes has put in his two grey horses, Very Classic and Sotomayor.

The other runners provisionally in the race are Lady Faye trained by Dennis Lee and Henry The Second who takes orders from Ian Parsard. Henry The Second is the only maiden entered.

Without a doubt, most interest in the race will surround the filly, She’s A Maneater who is two from two thus far in her career and it marks the first time that the offspring of Natural Selection – Ahwhofah will be venturing beyond six furlongs (1,200m) having won going five and a half furlongs and six furlongs.

She’s A Maneater now faces the rejuvenated pair of Mr Universe and Sotomayor. Mr Universe is a reversal of form, typical at this stage in the development of two-yearolds, and went to the front on Superstakes Day over six-anda- half furlongs (1,300m) and completely demolished rivals including Armageddon, while Sotomayor turned the tables on Henry The Second in their last encounter.

Lady Faye has been racing quite a bit and she will have to give the performance of her life to win this one. Very Classic should find the going rough in this one, with Henry The Second probably better poised at this stage of his career to hunt a maiden win.

At this stage, She’s A Maneater is the only horse which can win the three races in the SVL series, having already won the first event, the Cash Pot ‘Only One for Me’ Trophy.
