Rio Bueno, Invaders major casualties in Trelawny KO
FALMOUTH, Trelawny — Rio Bueno FC and Invaders SC were the major casualties as the Trelawny Football Association’s (TFA) Victor Wright Knockout kicked off last weekend with five games scheduled.
Rio Bueno FC, the Major League mid-season champions and beaten finalists, were knocked out by Spicy Hill, while Invaders SC, the promoted Major League team and Division One champions, were eliminated by Granville FC on penalty kicks.
There were, however, wins for relegated Western Confederation Super League team Salt Marsh United and Duanvale, while Duncans United SC and Prospect Links SC, who were to meet in one game, have been summoned to face the TFA Disciplinary Committee tomorrow.
Nathaniel Campbell’s fifth-minute goal was enough to carry Spicy Hill to their upset win over Rio Bueno and into the second round, which will see the draw made on December 1.
Invaders SC and Granville FC played out a 0-0 draw after regulation and extra time before Granville FC won 4-2 on penalty kicks.
Omar Williams scored twice for Salt Marsh in their 4-1 victory over Sawyers United SC, with Marvin Reynolds and Nickhoy Edwards getting the others, Eric Brissett scored the lone goal for the losers.
