Munro remain on course to defend U-16 football title
BROWN’S TOWN, St Ann — Munro College are on course to defend their Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association/TruJuice Rural Area Under-16 football title after beating Brown’s Town High 2-1 in Brown’s Town on Thursday and need only a draw in their next quarter final game to qualify for the semi-finals.
Munro College lead Zone Two of the quarter-finals with four points from two games played, one more than Morant Bay High and Brown’s Town, both of whom have also played two games.
Morant Bay High rebounded from their loss to Brown’s Town to beat Anchovy High 4-1 in Montego Bay on Friday.
Green Pond High and Glenmuir are in control of Zone One, both on four points after drawing 0-0 in Montego Bay on Friday, followed by Clarendon College, who edged Manchester High 1-0 on Thursday.
In the Under-14 competition, Cornwall College and Knox College are on top of Zone One, both on four points from a win and a draw and will need only a point from their next game to advance to the semi-finals.
After drawing 1-1 against each other, Cornwall and Knox both scored wins in their second game — Cornwall edged Vere Technical 2-1 in Montego Bay, while Knox were 3-1 winners over York Castle in St Ann.
Munro College, last year’s beaten finalists, lead Zone Two on four points after playing to a 0-0 draw against Seaforth on Friday and lead Bog Walk, who beat Rusea’s High 3-0 at Cornwall College on Thursday.
Seaforth High are on one point, while Rusea’s High have lost both games played so far.
