In light of the fact that breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths among Jamaican women, the Sandals Foundation, under their Women Helping Others Achieve (WHOA) programme, gave 50 women from underserved communities in St Ann and St Mary the opportunity to attend a clinic, get tested, and learn about breast cancer.
On October 31st, the final day in Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Sandals Foundation partnered with Jamaica Cancer Society for a two-day clinic dedicated to mammogram screening, as well as educating women on breast cancer-related topics such as signs, symptoms, how to perform breast self-examinations, health and lifestyle practices.
